Amidst the uncertainty there is one certainty: An Election is Coming

As we start 2022, there are many uncertainties in the year ahead. How hard will Omicron hit our struggling health service? What next for the NI Protocol? Can legislation be progressed and implemented on key issues such as Climate Change, Organ Donation and the Budget to name a few? One thing we can be certain of however is that there will be an Assembly election, held on or before 5th May 2022.

SDLP reshuffle of frontbench roles

With Assembly elections ‘on or before 5 May 2022’, SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood MP has reshuffled his party’s frontbench team in the Assembly. Eastwood has also created a number of new roles to reflect what he says are “urgent political priorities.”

What next for our Assembly and Executive?

As we approach the six month anniversary of the re-establishment of the Northern Ireland Executive and Assembly, it is fair to say that the value of our devolved institutions and the ability of our elected representatives to work together has been demonstrated daily, despite difference of opinions and approaches at times.
