Stratagem appointed NILGA Strategic Partner

17 August 2017 - by Gráinne Walsh

Stratagem is delighted to announce that we have been appointed as a Strategic Partner to the Northern Ireland Local Government Association (NILGA).

The appointment will see Stratagem and NILGA working closely together to help develop and inform practical and policy ideas for strengthening local government in Northern Ireland.

Head of Consultancy Gráinne Walsh will represent Stratagem, having worked extensively with local government – most recently with Lisburn and Castlereagh Council in the development of its Community Plan.

Gráinne said:

Stratagem work across a range of sectors, including business, energy, health, the community sector, as well as in the public sector, and I believe that this breadth of knowledge gives us a unique insight which we can apply to our role as Strategic Partner to NILGA.

“With no Assembly or Executive, and the UK exit from the EU on the agenda, local government can play a key role in representing the interests of the communities they serve; indeed, never has their role been more critical.

I am delighted to be working with NILGA alongside the other Strategic Partners, particularly given the important role that councils now play in policy making and delivering for local communities."

Chief Executive of NILGA Derek McCallan said:

We look forward to working with Stratagem and the other Strategic Partners to find new and innovative ways of enhancing local government. There has been much change since the Review of Public Administration, and local government is increasingly playing a leading role in building strong, sustainable communities.”
